About Us

I’m curious.  So I want to know about why people love some foods and feel offended by others.  I want to learn how people manage when they arrive at a place where their comfort foods are rare and maybe even considered exotic.  I want to explore how people think of food as extensions of their identities and how through expanding their culinary experiences they enrich other aspects of their lives.  Also, I love food.

I’m an academic who happens to really really love food, as a visceral and cultural experience, as well as an area of legal exploration.  As the kid of immigrants, I grew up with food as a connector to my parents’ cultures, but also appreciate its role in our socioeconomic, justice, and environmental systems.  Also my first word was “new” (in Cantonese), which pretty much means I will try anything, at least once.
